March 2017

Monday, April 3, 2017

Hello and happy spring!  It is indeed, spring at last here on West Thurlow Island where the flowers are finally beginning to bloom.

For some of us, March began away from home as we packed up our trade show materials and headed for Vancouver.  The Vancouver Outdoor Adventure and Travel show was an exciting new experience and a seemingly successful one.  The show offered the opportunity to meet and greet those wanting to experience the majesty of the Discovery Islands without a boat of their own.

March is always an important month for Blind Channel as activities begin to move from indoor to outdoor.  Some of the projects carried over from February include a facelift for the store and renovations on the original rental cabin.  The store was in need of a little love, so a fresh coat of paint on the walls along with newly stained cedar posts has the place shining for the upcoming season.  The original rental cabin was also in need of some work and so the bathroom was completely gutted and is now being rebuilt.  Outside the snow finally released its hold and allowed us to break ground on a new building designed to house the batteries for our ongoing tidal power project.

Thanks for stopping by to experience another month with us, here is a look back at what March had to offer:

We had a wonderful week in this incredible place. We saw orcas, dalls porpoise, dolphins, and a bear. Awesome! We so enjoyed the helpful and friendly staff, too. We look forward to coming back.
