Reflecting on 2020

2020 wasn’t an easy year, but despite all its difficulties we were incredibly fortunate to be here at Blind Channel.  It was a year of slowing down, spending more time at home, and rising to new challenges.  It meant adapting to ever-changing health guidelines, shutdowns and border closures.   This was not how we had anticipated celebrating our 50 year anniversary, but it certainly was memorable.  We were exceedingly grateful to be able to stay open, to keep the boats moving, and to have enjoyed an amazing season, no matter how different it was.

Despite the pandemic, there were still some exciting updates here at Blind Channel including the addition of a brand new tour boat.  The 16ft Stryker allows for a more intimate tour experience of the local passages, inlets, and river estuaries.  We’ve spent many hours exploring its potential, ready to welcome you on board.

Working through the spring, the restaurant at Blind Channel received a fresh look with a completely renovated bar and a new-live edge seating area overlooking the water.

Due to travel restrictions, summer found the marina and cabins catering exclusively to Canadians.  While our regular international travellers certainly were missed, the residents of British Columbia stepped up to explore their own backyard.  It was fantastic to see so many  people visiting us for the first time.  The summer staff, although fewer this year did a tremendous job making everyone feel welcome.

As the summer began to wane into autumn, we welcomed our newest canine member.  Millie is a mischievous Cocker Spaniel/Aussie Shepherd who you may see playing with Strudel on your next visit.  Strudel couldn’t be more pleased.

So here we are at the end of a very strange year and the beginning of a new one.  Here’s to whatever 2021 has in store for us.  If 2020 taught us anything it’s to be adaptable and to embrace change.

With love and gratitude from all of us at Blind Channel.
