December 2016

This is it, the end of one of the busiest years in Blind Channel’s history, and we have all of you to thank.  December was no exception as the boats and accommodation were kept in full swing.  An exciting finish to the year came as the new tidal power turbine was hauled up to Blind Channel and is now securely tied to the dock awaiting installation. The project, in partnership with Mavi Innovations, is scheduled for completion this spring.

Well, the trend continues and Blind Channel is as busy as ever.  The cabins have been consistently occupied throughout the month as the water-taxis keep on the move.  Our tidal power project is advancing beautifully as the engineers continue to work out logistics.  Other projects this month included a new roof on the six bedroom roundhouse as well as wildlife spotting and puddle jumping.  Enjoy:

September 2016

Shoulder season has arrived here at Blind Channel, while we wrap up the busiest summer ever.  Early September saw a consistent flow of traffic with many a boater out taking advantage of the good weather.  The restaurant, usually only open until Labour Day weekend kept busy with Labour Day come and gone.  When we did finally close the doors for the season we were still offering take out meals delivered personally to the dock.

August arrived and with it came the warm temperatures of summer.  Long blue bird days faded into starry nights over our busy marina.  The restaurant remained as busy as ever with delectable meals that had many a guest coming back for more.  We hosted two seafood boils this month accompanied by live music on the patio.  The first event, held on August 13th featured the Vancouver trio Longhand whose music had listeners tapping toes and humming along.

It’s been quite a month around here this July.  The first half of the month was not exactly hot and sunny, even so we’d need almost to expand to be busier.  We worked hard to keep the store stocked with fresh produce and squeezed as many boats onto the dock as possible.  Many a night even our fuel dock was occupied.

Despite the few days of Northwest wind the turn out for the second music event of the summer was exceptional.  The day dawned bright and sunny and by the evening the lively music and friendly atmosphere had everyone tapping their toes.  Thanks to Hal Douglas and his band for putting on a spectacular evening!

A summer evening of live music good food and new friends.  The first of this season’s music and seafood boil events kicked off with a bang.  The marina was jam packed full and when the music began at 6:00 that evening the patio came alive as we began one of our busiest live music nights ever.  The Dave Blinzinger Quartet has joined us in the past and performed as outstanding as ever.

The long spring days fade into summer nights as we launch enthusiastically into the 2016 season.  The restaurant opened it’s doors June first this year to roaring success thanks to the outstanding talent of our chef Mark Ames.

May 2016

June you say?  But what became of May?  Has it come and gone already?  The warm and sunny days melted into one another and left us reeling into June before we knew it.  On May’s first weekend the radio crackles to life, “Do you have room for five boats?” comes the friendly voice on the other end.  As there were already a few boats at the dock it feels like a busy start to the month.

We had a wonderful week in this incredible place. We saw orcas, dalls porpoise, dolphins, and a bear. Awesome! We so enjoyed the helpful and friendly staff, too. We look forward to coming back.
